The STONE Festival 2013 21st to 29th September.
The grounds of The Bowes Museum and throughout Teesdale
Dust off and sharpen your chisels. The STONE Festival is back for its second year, celebrating the past, present and future of stonework in the North Pennines, still a hotspot for the UK’s stone sector. It will, again, be based in the grounds of The Bowes Museum, and the focus will remain on sculpture. A group of young sculptors will be working under the guidance of an established professional and courses in creative stoneskills will be available to members of the public. A programme of talks, walks and demonstrations on various aspects of stone will help raise awareness of the deep influence stone has had on the cultural DNA of local communities. So come along and get your hands on the hard stuff. See festival website for more details.
